Jun-Jul 2024 | co-curator of Hong Kong exhibition | organized by the Consulate Generals of Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Honorary Consulate of Slovakia, Czech Centres
In recent years, V4 countries (Czechia, Hungary, Poland, and Slovakia) and Hong Kong have been confronting various challenges in the conservation of their modern architectural heritage under rapid urban redevelopment. This event offers a timely opportunity to explore some of the related trajectories in both contexts in the past and present.
The accompanying exhibition consists of two sections. “Iconic Ruins?” is a traveling exhibition organized by Czech Centres in cooperation with V4 curators (under the EU project “Shared Cities”) with a focus on the paralleled development of postwar socialist architecture among V4 countries. “Hong Kong Modern” showcases 15 modernist buildings designed by Chinese architects in Hong Kong from the 1950s to 1980s.
