Ground Music – project review

GroundMusic is a unique initiative, designed as a resource-matching platform to bring together the potential of non-performative public space and aspiring local musicians, resulting in lively musical performances for the general audience. Funded by the CUHK Knowledge Transfer Project Fund with the support of industry venue partners, the multidisciplinary team curates and organises performances in different shopping malls across Hong Kong since January 2025.

Space Design

Project Partner: Atelier In

The space is created with a user-oriented design approach by Atelier In. It builds upon communication with artists and close observation of the musicians’ practices to understand their needs, in order to develop spatial design elements that facilitate performance in public spaces. Working with our venue partners, the adaptive installation system can be easily assembled in multiple configurations to accommodate different site conditions. [more on design]
